IMED - International Micro Enterprise Development, Inc.

International Micro Enterprise Development, Inc. (IMED) is a non-profit organization that equips entrepreneurs from the poorest regions of the world to launch their own small businesses. Through extensive training and micro-loans, these entrepreneurs are able to provide for their families, create jobs and make a lasting difference in their communities.

IMED began with a small group of volunteers working in Central Asia shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union. From those early beginnings, IMED has come to operate in over 15 countries in Asia and Africa--some of the most under-developed and hard to reach places on earth. Today there are over 300 micro-businesses formed through IMED and at a rate of nearly 50 new businesses per year, our goal is to reach 500 by 2010.
